Vintage Silver Tea Strainer, J.B. Chatterley, 1973

Here we have a Vintage Sterling Silver Tea Strainer from the nineteen seventies. The tea strainer is in the Art Nouveau style with the stem showing the flowing lines and organic decoration that are typical of that era. The bowl is a good depth and the piercings are in an attractive pattern.
The strainer is made in Birmingham by J.B. Chatterley & Sons Ltd and dates to 1973. J.B. Chatterley & Sons were in business for around one hundred years in Birmingham\'s famous Jewellery Quarter between the 1890s and the 1990s making a wide range of mostly domestic items.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and only the most superficial of surface wear that has to be expected after nearly 50 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The tea strainer is 14.6cm / 5.75ins long and weighs a very respectable 43g / 1.5oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the side of the bowl are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor with a c on either side assay mark, which was used in this year to mark the bicentenary of the Birmingham assay office, the date letter Y for 1973 and the JBC & S Ld in a shield makers\' mark for J.B. Chatterley & Sons Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
