Vintage Michelin Brass Magnifying Glass w/ Case

This is a fabulous Vintage Brass Magnifying Glass in its original Leather Case. The magnifier has a square brass surround featuring the famous Michelin Man, a circular magnifying glass and a folding textured handle. The leather case is embossed with an image of the Michelin Man riding a motorcycle.
The magnifying glass was produced in 1956 to celebrate 50 years of Michelin Tyres (or Tires) opening their first showroom in England in 1906. It was a promotional item most probably intended to help with map reading during a journey.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the glass and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. The case is in good condition with just the patina you would anticipate. The lid shuts securely and the handle is firmly attached. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The magnifier, unfolded, is 20.5cm / 8ins long and 8.8cm / 3.5ins across. By itself it weighs 386g / 13.6oz and cased it weighs 454g / 16oz.
The text around the frame reads Michelin Tire Company England 1906, with embossed images of the Michelin Man and a Union Flag.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
