Vintage Hand-Embroidered Huichol Textile Panel

A striking mid–20th century hand-embroidered textile, richly worked in vivid shades of red, orange, and yellow against a deep black ground. The panel depicts ceremonial and mythological scenes in the traditional Huichol (Wixarika) style, including human figures, animals, birds, and sacred motifs arranged in a symmetrical, almost architectural composition.
This piece showcases the Huichol people’s renowned artistry, with embroidery symbolising visions, rituals, and connections to the natural and spiritual world. Worked with great skill and density, the embroidery has a bold, almost luminous effect, making it as much a work of art as a textile.
A beautiful decorative piece for collectors of world textiles, folk art, or ethnographic works. Suitable for framing or display as a wall hanging.
Origin: Mexico (Huichol, Wixarika people)
Period: Mid–20th century
Technique: Hand embroidery on cotton ground
Condition: Very good, with bright colours and minimal wear
Dimensions: 157 x 113 cm
