Vintage Fairground Fete Roll-o Major Bagatelle Game
This is a magnificent and rare to find Vintage Fairground Roll-O Major Bagatelle Game, made c1950, which would be ideal for use at a Fete or in a Games Room or as a decorative item on a wall. It is in good condition but does exhibit some age-related wear with some surface marks to the painted surface but nothing major and it measures approximately 120cm long, 45.5cm wide and 7.5cm deep overall.
The aim of the game is to propel a total of 6 balls and count up the total sum using the amounts for each channel they land in. The game advertises the total sums that would provide a prize to the player. Pulling the lever at the top moves the nails to release the balls for the next game.
There is reference to this game in a book called “Fairground Art” by G.Weedon and R.Ward.
We’ve added 8 new wooden balls to use with this game, so there are 2 spares available. It would benefit from a small piece of wood adding to the inside sides of the ball channel to ensure they’re propelled from the centre if required.
We’re not sure exactly how it should function, however, it is playable by placing the wood block underneath where the nail mechanism is, to hold the balls in place where they land and lifting the board up slightly then pulling the lever on the front drops the nails to release the balls to start the next game.
There are two mounting brackets that have been added later as it has been used as a piece of wall art.
Please take a look at the photos to evaluate the condition for yourself, as they form part of the description and if you wish to ask us anything about the item, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Payment is accepted via bank transfer, debit/credit card (via SumUp secure payments - we will provide a payment link) or Paypal. Payment by cash on collection is also acceptable. Cheques are not accepted.
