Vintage Colossus of Rhodes Statue, Greek

This is a vintage Colossus of Rhodes statue. A Greek, plated bronze ancient maritime figure, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.
Built as a statue of the Greek sun god Helios, The Colossus of Rhodes stood prominently above the eponymous city harbour and was completed in 280 BC. At a height of 108 feet, this ancient statue was two-thirds the height of the Statue of Liberty. The depiction of the Colossus straddling the harbour wall is a romanticised notion, inspired by 14th to 16th century literature.

White metal plated bronze presents warm silver tones
The figure straddles a small boat, a representation of the statue steeped in folklore
Presented upon a green marble socle with leather cushion to the base
