Victorian Silver Pickle Fork, James Collins, 1848

This is a very elegant early Victorian Sterling Silver Pickle Fork in the ornate Queen's Pattern. The upper part of the stem is double struck with the distinctive Queen's Pattern design, whilst the lower part is a slender cylinder which swells out just before the tines. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind making this an ideal gift for any collector or pickle lover!
The fork is made in Birmingham by James Collins and dates to 1848. James Collins was a very successful specialist spoon and flatware maker who was in business for over fifty years between 1816 and around 1870.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and only the most minimal superficial surface wear. This has clearly been very well looked after for the last 174 years! Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The fork is 14.3cm / 5.6ins long and weighs in at a very respectable 12.2g / 0.43oz.
The hallmarks just below the root of the tines are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter Z for 1848, the Queen Victoria duty mark and the JC makers' mark for James Collins.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
