Victorian Silver & Bone Toddy Ladle, Glasgow, 1870

This is a good quality Victorian Scottish Sterling Silver Toddy Ladle with a barley twist bone handle and silver finial. The Toddy Ladle is made in Glasgow in a fair gauge of silver by silversmith William Coghill and dates to 1870. William Coghill operated out of premises in Stormont Street, Glasgow between around 1855 and 1890 and is particularly known for flatware and ladles. There is no engraving or personalisation of any kind. The hallmarks on the inside of the bowl are well struck and clear to read.
The Toddy Ladle is in good overall condition with no dents and only a minimal amount of wear & tear such as you would expect of an item that's been pouring toddies for 150 years! It is completely functional and suitable for use today or would make a great addition to any collection. Please make sure you look at all the photos.
The ladle is 19.3cm long and weighs 17.0g, although this obviously includes the bone handle.
The hallmarks are the lion rampant for Scottish Sterling Silver, the tree, fish & bell assay mark for Glasgow, the date letter "Z" for 1870, the Queen Victoria duty mark and the WC makers' mark for William Coghill.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
