This is an exceptional quality antique early English Victorian Gothic carved mahogany window seat, with a fabulous colour, circa 1840, in good original condition.

Description:
This is an exceptional quality antique early English Victorian Gothic carved mahogany window seat, with a fabulous colour, circa 1840, in good original condition. This bench boasts a single plank figured mahogany seat (a sign of quality), with carved scroll bolsters at either end, finished with a fine moulding. Below, the item incorporates a simple straight frieze above a gothic arched apron, finished with multiple cabochons carvings, to the front and rear. The seat is raised on turned legs, which boast spiral fluting and further cabochons carvings at the knees. The Gothic-inspired design and carvings seen on this bench reflect the 16th century period, which was extremely fashionable at the time.
This item features a rich red-brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a lovely colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway or porch, or in a bay window. It could also be used a coffee table. This bench is in good original condition, having been constructed with a solid figured mahogany seat. Nominal old use marks to the top of the seat (see photos) and leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The apron is complete and there are no missing carvings. As it boasts the original polish, it has a lovely colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item is well constructed, solid in joint (it does not wobble) and is ready to use.

We do not offer free delivery to locations north of Stirling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any British Islands off the mainland for example, the Isle of Man, Isle of White and Channel Islands. Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit, therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you be email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you. Once you have confirmed you can accept delivery on the provisional delivery date, we will book the delivery in with our shippers and it then becomes a confirmed delivery date.

A free 14-day “no quibble” returns policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item.
