Victorian Burr Walnut Stretcher Table, c.1860
This is an antique, Victorian stretcher table dating to c.1860.
A superior example, the burr walnut in the quartered, book matched top displays desirable grain detail, good colour and a lustrous shine. The edge detail in delicate convex swags accentuating the beauty of the cut and softening the look.
United by a turned stretcher decorated with motif to the central bulb, the twin turned columns rise from accentuated cabriole legs, carved with foliate detail that sweep into scrolled toes above bronze clasped ceramic castors.
Proportion, material choice and skilled execution are abundant in this beautiful table, solid joints and stable, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
