We are offering this very pretty porcelain Table Lamp, which has been converted in the past from a 19th Century Oil Lamp, together with a lovely shade from the company that made the Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge lamp shades.

The Base is in transfer printed porcelain, with the bowl with a white ground decorated with sprigs of flowers in pastel colours, with the slender neck being in pale mint green. The porcelain stands upon an ornate, solid and heavy brass base, with three scroll feet, between each of the feet, is a mask of a pierrot or jester. Inside the body, there was the metal oil container, bearing the initials J. S., which might stand for the French Oil Lamp Maker Josef Schlossmacher who worked in Paris.

The Shade is in the 'Saltzburg' style, in mint silk, with gold fringe, toning bead drops and a mint plaited braid.

The lamp has been completely rewired with antique gold coloured braided flex and has all new fittings, including a safer switched bulb holder, shade carrier and plug. As with all electrical items it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified electrician prior to use.

Height to top of shade: 24" - 61cm

Diameter of shade: 13 1/2" - 34.25cm

Max. diameter of base: 7" 17.75cm

Condition: Very good. There is no damage to the porcelain, only a slight rubbing to the gilding at the top of the white body, consistent with handling. The brass base is in very good condition and the shade is new.
