Unusual Silver Fruit Serving Spoon / Ladle

A fine quality Victorian silver serving spoon for desserts and fruit with an unusual but very practical scooped ladle type shape with large bowl and curved handle. Very decorative with cast detail to the upper side of the shaped handle with fruit including pineapple, berries, oranges and a rather unusual fruit just above the bowl that I can't identify. Further scrolls and ad leaves framing a vacant cartouche. The Bowl is finely engraved with a basket of fruit surrounded with ornate scrolling and swirling foliage. Hallmarked for London 1853, makers mark partially rubbed but almost certainly that of Elizabeth Eaton.
A very attractive and incredibly usefully shaped serving piece perfect for serving desserts of all sorts from trifle to tiramisu.
It measures 18.5cm (7 1/4") long, 6.5cm (2 1/2") wide across the bowl and 5.5cm (2 1/8") deep from bowl to handle. It weighs a substantial 110g / 3.5ozt.
Condition is excellent with no damage, dents or repairs. Very minor handling wear, nothing discernible to the engraving or cast decoration. The maker's mark is partially rubbed because of it's location the other marks are clear. A further smaller mark has been later struck between the maker's mark and the rest of the hallmarks which appears to be a Z. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
