Stunning Large Elkington Silverplated Inkwell
MAGNIFICENT LARGE CIRCULAR VICTORIAN SILVERPLATED INKWELL BY ELKINGTON DATED 1856
A beautiful, silver-plated very large disc-shaped Victorian inkwell with Neoclassical decoration. Engraved throughout with Gods & Goddesses. Warriors and mythical creatures. Made in 1856 by Elkington & Co. in Birmingham. Stamped with the company mark, pattern number 941 and company's own date letter "R" for 1856. There is an engraved dedication from 1871 inside the lid.
Measurements diameter 19.5cm (7 11/16") - height 4,0cm (1 9/16")
In very good condition, the engravings are still very well defined with no dents or repairs. A very impressive piece. The detail in this piece is superb.
