Small Edwardian mahogany chest
Here we have this chest of lovely small proportions made of antique timber.
The chest was made as a reduced version of a Georgian chest that were of a much larger size.
As wealthy people started to live in smaller houses, the requirement for elegant classic antique furniture that could fit in smaller areas became very popular. Hence cabinetmakers started to make custom pieces from old timber to fit the demand.
This chest had the added feature of box-wood stringing around the chests drawers and it stands on bracket feet.
