Silver Pickle Fork, James Weir, Glasgow, 1915

This is a smart Scottish George V Sterling Silver Pickle Fork in the traditional Old English pattern. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The pickle fork was made for the retailer James Weir and assayed in Glasgow in 1915. James Weir was a retail jeweller and silversmith with premises in Argyle Street and Buchanan Street in Glasgow. The company was in business from around 1890 to around 1927 at which point they were absorbed into the business of Robert Stewart, a fellow Buchanan Street retailer, who ceased trading around 1935.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The pickle fork is 11.5cm / 4.5ins long and weighs in at 10.7g / 0.38oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion rampant and thistle marks for Scottish Sterling Silver, the tree, bell and fish assay mark for Glasgow, the script date letter S for 1915 and the J.W in a heart shape makers' mark for James Weir.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
