Silver & Gilt St Moritz Souvenir Teaspoon, c.1920s

This is a top quality 800 Silver & Gilt Souvenir Teaspoon from St Moritz in Switzerland. The spoon has a Corinthian column stem with criss-cross engraving and a bear as the finial. The bowl is gilded and has the name St Moritz elegantly engraved inside.
The spoon is made by the German company Christoph Widmann of Pforzheim and dates to the 1920s or 1930s. This was the boom time for winter sports in Europe and the USA and St Moritz in Switzerland was one of the foremost resorts, hosting the second Winter Olympics in 1928.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents. The gilding inside the bowl is in good condition, although it is rubbed a little thin on the underside of the bowl. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoon is 11.5cm / 4.5ins long and weighs a respectable 13.8g / 0.49oz of solid silver.
The underside of the bowl is stamped 800 for 800/1000 grade silver, the German standard at the time. Next to this is the CW makers' mark for Christoph Widmann.
