A GOOD QUALITY SET ANTIQUE SCOTTISH PROVINCIAL SILVER SPOONS, JOHN LESLIE ABERDEEN,
A very nice Set of Six Scottish Provincial Silver Teaspoons complete with a Masking Spoon by John Leslie, Aberdeen dating from c1790.
John Leslie is recorded as working in Aberdeen c1774 - 1821.
The accompanying masking spoon is similar to a teaspoon but longer and was used to stir the pot.
The spoons are marked with the maker's mark only "IL" for John Leslie of Aberdeen. It is relatively common to find smaller items of Scottish provincial flatware, like teaspoons, to be marked with the maker's mark only.
The teaspoons measure just over 125mm in length. The masking spoon is 155mm in length.
The total weight is 84.0g.
They are in very good condition. It is relatively rare to get a set of six Scottish Provincial teaspoons along with a masking spoon, a lovely addition to any collection.
