Set of Six William IV Mahogany Dining Chairs
This is a superb set of six matching period dining chairs from the William IV era, dating to the 1830s. Made from high-quality mahogany with beautifully figured grain , these chairs exemplify the bold yet elegant aesthetic of the period.
Each chair displays exceptional hand-carved detail. The crest rails feature scrolling acanthus leaves, floral motifs (including roses), and elegant volutes. The shaped top rail and central carved splat create a striking, sculptural silhouette that is typical of fine William IV furniture.
Showcasing a rich, flame- mahogany grain, highlighting the natural beauty and depth of the timber.
The front legs are finely turned with classic decoration, while the rear legs are splayed . The overall proportions are lovely and well-balanced.
Drop in seat cushions Currently fitted with cream/ivory fabric seats that provide a pleasing contrast to the deep, warm tones of the mahogany. The upholstery is functional but can easily be recovered to suit the new owner’s décor if desired.
These chairs are completely usable on a daily basis. They are structurally sound with no loose joints or movement. All six chairs are in good, usable condition for their age, showing normal signs of wear and use consistent with original pieces over 190 years old.
