Scottish Silver Table Spoon, Edinburgh, 1811

This is a good quality Scottish George III Sterling Silver Table Spoon in the rarely found Oar pattern, a Scottish variation on the classic fiddle pattern which does not have shoulders above the bowl. The Table Spoon is made in Edinburgh in a good gauge of silver by silversmith Matthew Craw and dates to 1811. The initials "PC" are elegantly engraved at the top of the stem, although the letters have become a little rubbed. The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read.
The Table Spoon is in generally good condition with just a couple of very tiny dings to the bowl and only a minimal amount of wear & tear, such as you would expect of an item that is 209 years old. Please make sure you look at all the photos.
The spoon is 21.3cm long and weighs a very substantial 63.0g of solid sterling silver.
The hallmarks are the thistle for Scottish sterling silver, the 3 towered castle assay mark for Edinburgh, the date letter "f" for 1811, the George III duty mark and the MC makers' mark for Matthew Craw.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
