Pair of Scottish Provincial Silver Wishbone Tongs, Ballater.
A good pair of Scottish Provincial Silver Wishbone Sugar Tongs by William J Fraser of Ballater.
They are hallmarked with the Edinburgh Castle town mark, the Scottish thistle silver mark and date letter "Y" for 1929/30, above the maker's mark "W.J.F" for William James Fraser of Ballater.
They measure 105mm in length and weigh 14.6g.
After the death of William Robb his Ballater shop was left to his daughter. William James Fraser was the Son in Law of William Robb Ballater and traded in Ballater from around 1927 to 1940. Fraser continued to produce many of the silver items made popular by William Robb, such as these tongs. Specialists in Antique Pocket Watches & Vintage Wristwatches, Jewellery, Silver (including Scottish Provincial),Good Quality Antiques & Works of Art.
