Scottish Provincial Silver Ladle, Montrose


A very nice Antique Scottish Provincial Silver small cream ladle by Benjamin Lumsden, Montrose and dating from c1790.
The ladle hallmaked the maker's mark "BL" for Benjamin Lumsden alongside the "Rose" symbol for Montrose (stamped twice). An example of this mark is shown in the Montrose section of Jackson's Silver and Gold Marks.
It has the engraved initials "DJC" under the number "1" on the handle (see photo).
The ladle is in very good condition but does have some very minor light scratches on the underside of the handle, mentioned for accuracy, they do not detract in the slightest from this lovely ladle (see photo).
