Rustic Central European Tavern Table
A charming rustic tavern table from Eastern Europe, this piece has been constructed in the style of a refectory table with a top which is reminiscent of a butcher’s block. The end frames have dowels for the top to sit on and are connected by a central stretcher with removable pegs at either end to allow the piece to be easily dismantled. There is a deep notch beneath one long side of the heavy top, with a shallow recess in the surface above, perhaps suggesting a reused door after a lock and plate had been removed. There are old metal strengthening plates at both ends. This will be a great piece for use as a breakfast table or utility surface in a country kitchen.
Dating to circa 1900, this is made of wood and originates from central Europe.
In rustic age related condition, this has some signs of historic woodworm, all treated.
