Regency Flame Mahogany Linen Press
This lovely antique linen press dates from the early nineteenth century. It is constructed primarily from solid mahogany with lovely flame mahogany veeneers to the front. The linen press has double doors which opens to reveal five original pull-out slides. The doors retain their original lock and working key and the locking door is brass-edged. The bottom half of the linen press consists of two small drawers over two long drawers, which retain replacement brass handles. The drawers retain their locks, but please note that no key is present. The linen press is supported on ring-turned legs. Please note that it splits down into three pieces (cornice, top section, bottom section) for ease of transportation.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall faded. There are some areas of knocking and minor loss to the woodwork in places and some minor wood shrinkage cracking. The locking door is bowed outwards towards the bottom, which means it does not quite sit flush, and the panels in the doors are both a little bowed. There are some signs of old woodworm damage - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 202.5cm high, 128.5cm wide, 54.5cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
