Regency Flame Mahogany Inlaid Bureau
A superb quality early 19th century Regency bureau.
This very elegant Mahogany bureau has a beautiful inlaid and hand decorated, satin-wood and tulip-wood marquetry panel to the fall-front, with oval cross-banding.
The fall-front opens to reveal a fitted interior of excellent quality, which consists of several pigeon hole compartments, small and long drawers , having a charming small central door with a compartment under, and secret drawer.
Below are four long cock-beaded drawers, fronted with the most wonderful flame Mahogany veneers, which are very striking, and rich and warm in colour, with a beautiful patina, which is only obtained with antique furniture of this age. with elegant brass handles. Each drawer has all locks and escutcheons present, and are oak-lined
Freshly bees-waxed and polished.
Standing on bracket shaped feet.
Very heavy, solid, sturdy and strong.

Condition The condition is very good, having general, usual, expected signs of age and use for the age of the bureau. Very minor knocks and bumps. The brass handles appear to be replacement handles, are antique in age and of very good quality. The small door of the fitted interior is missing its lock/escutcheon.
