Regency Bow-Fronted Mahogany Chest of Drawers
This attractive antique bow-fronted chest of drawers dates from c.1820. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The drawer fronts have lovely ebony inlay. The chest consists of four long graduated drawers, which have replacement brass handles and escutcheons. The top drawer has had a later divider added. The chest is supported on swept bracket feet with a shaped lower apron. The drawers retain what appear to be replacement locks, but please note that no key is present.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some signs of old restoration and repair. The top has some dark marks, indentation and scratching, and is slightly warped. There are some areas of minor wood and veneer loss. As is mentioned above the locks, handles and escutcheons are replacements and no key is present. There are some signs of old woodworm to the back - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
