Rare Hallmarked Sterling Silver Minaudiere 1950s
A rare necessaire in superb condition with the original accessories. This is a unique & exquisitely beautiful sterling silver minaudiere made in the 1950s. The lid, base, all sides & interior have the most beautiful hand engraved flowers & foliage. This outstanding vanity case has a background design that has been rendered with such skill that the etched finish will not show any fingerprints. This is a high quality luxury item which will maintain its beauty. It suitable as a bridal clutch or as a gift when only something unique will do. The minaudiere is marked 'STERLING SILVER' 'MADE IN ITALY'. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The edges are subtle, not angular, which makes this comfortably portable and pleasing to handle. This splendid minaudiere has a concealed hinge & every part of this piece has been engraved with great expertise.
Lift the lid to reveal a superb interior with a very good mirror which gives a good and accurate reflection. This mid-century vanity case is so remarkable as the original accessories are present. It is such a thrill to lift up the beautifully engraved inner lids to see the original cream velour edged sifters and pink down puff. The original lipstick holder and fittings are in place. The lipstick holder is pristine and no lipstick has ever been installed in it. The interior lipstick case still has the original unmarked protective cream enamel. The original Lucite comb sits neatly in the sterling silver sprung holder. The comb is excellent, all the 'teeth' are present.
The dimensions of this superb vanity case mean that it is suitable as a bridal clutch or an impressive accessory for that special day / evening.
