Rare Bentwood “Lamda” Chair for Dartington Hall 1Left Lamda Dartington Hall Ltd Armchairs %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
The Lamda chair, designed by architect Robert Hening and Hein Heckroth, in 1935 and manufactured for Dartington Hall estate. Hening assisted William Lescaze in designing the buildings on the Dartington Hall estate, some of the most celebrated modernist dwellings in the UK. Featured in the book ‘Going Modern and Being British’ (1910-1960) shown in the last image.

These are in a lovely tone of oak with those rather fetching bentwood arms. Both armchairs are labelled with the maker's little pressed metal plaque and also with the Dartington transfer to the frames.

The chairs have enjoyed a full professional and authentic reupholster with new fillings and strapwork. The fabric is a good quality period inspired geometric pattern. The frames are firm with no splitting to the arms and the chairs are ready to enjoy.
