1489 - Pair of Early Oak Chairs
A particularly good pair of Early 18th Century Oak Chairs , George II C.1730
In the manner of Thomas Chippendale
Having front cabriole legs with shell motifs and carved details to scrolls on the front shaped seat rail. The side rails are similar.
The top rail is beautifully shaped with added carved details to the scrolls on either end. The pierced splat is also carved with a fan like shell and the interlacing straps are carved in a 3 D relief effect …… Even the back legs are proficiently made with chamfered edges and little turn outs at the bases.
There is no damage no repairs absolutely genuine. The seats are nicely upholstered would only needed to be re-covered if client wants to. Country antique furniture at its best, who ever made these chairs certainly had studied and used the designs of the day. Truly delightful!
