P. T. Barnum the 'Yankee Showman - Written by Himself' - Pamphlet dated Circa 1855- Published by H. Elliot, 475 New Oxford Street, London. The Pamphlet 'Complete Twopence' was marketed for the general public.(has 16 pages of print) Phineas Taylor Barnum was born in 1810 in Bethel, Connecticut. His career spanned many areas as well as an entertainer he was a Showman, Businessman, Politician, Author, Publisher.
In 1850 he promoted the Opera Singer Jenny Lind in America, making her one of the highest paid singers and making himself a fortune.
He served as a Republican Politician in Fairfield. He became the Mayor or Bridgeport, Connecticut and was instrumental in founding the hospital here in 1878. He died in 1891.
