Circa 1870, mid Victorian carved rosewood side chair. The oval back has a foliate carving top rail, and is held in place by scrolling arms and two small foliate carved scrolls. The centre is upholstered with needlepoint, as is the stuffover seat. The shaped apron follows the shape of the seat on all sides, and has foliate carving in the centre of the front. All standing on carved cabriole front legs with acanthus carved knees finishing on raised toes, and turned, tapering slightly outswept back legs. Wonderful piece of Victoriana.
