Mid-Century Silver Sugar Shovel, Cooper Bros, 1965

This is a stylish Mid-Century Elizabeth II Sterling Silver Sugar Shovel with a scalloped bowl and a scroll finial. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The sugar shovel is made in Sheffield by renowned silversmiths Cooper Brothers & Sons and dates to 1965. Founded in 1866, Cooper Brothers, with the later addition of Sons, were particularly famous for their good quality flatware and cutlery. They ceased trading in the 1980s when they were taken over by Frank Cobb & Co.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 55 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The sugar shovel is 12.7cm / 5ins long and weighs a very respectable 20g / 0.71oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter X for 1965 and the C B & S in a shield makers' mark for Cooper Brothers & Sons.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
