Circa 1880, large oak desk chair of very generous proportions. The top section is upholstered in a leatherette. Below the top, the large horse shoe shaped seat is scooped out and is solid. The back is supported by two uprights with quarter brackets which have open fretwork. Below the seat, the chair stands on two elegant turned legs at the front and two swept legs at the back, united by an unusual crinoline stretcher. The whole piece stands on brass and porcelain castors. The chair is very sturdy.
