Circa 1870, large Victorian carved hall chair/throne chair. The back is profusely carved with open fretwork, and foliate and geometric designs. The top section of the chair has a raised arch and beneath this are stylised acanthus leaves, supported by turned and tapering uprights. From the uprights there are 2 large carved arms held in place by turned uprights, which continue down to become the legs with various carvings and turnings. At the base of the legs there is a very stylish Continental cross over stretcher of cruciform design and the whole chair stands on 4 raised squat bun feet. Very stylish and imposing chair.
