Large Victorian English Silver Vinaigrette c1848


EXQUISITE LARGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ENGLISH STERLING SILVER VINAIGRETTE, c1848.
An extremely nice, very good quality, antique, early Victorian, English Silver Vinaigrette, made in Birmingham and dating from c1848.
It is hallmarked on the inside of the lid with the maker's mark "ES" for Edward Smith, the Monarch's Head (Queen Victoria) duty mark and the date letter "Z" for 1848/49. The base with the anchor Birmingham town mark, the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark and the maker's mark "ES".
The box has engraved decoration and the lid with a family crest.
The box is of a slightly larger than normal size for a vinaigrette, measuring approximately 42mm x 32mm x 9mm. The weight is 26.4g.
It is in excellent overall condition.
