Greenman 17th Century Corbel With Horns Greenman corbel 17th century carving 1660s oak %%alt5%%
Early 1600s corbel/shelf bracket, 9 inches in height and a good weight. Foliage is coming out from both sides of the mouth, very interestingly the head incorporates horns sweeping around both sides. Quite a rare feature on a greenman but it is known, please read below the significance of the horns.

The Green Man is sometimes portrayed with horns, particularly in interpretations that link him to the Horned God, a figure symbolizing masculine divinity and nature. While not a universal feature, horns or antlers can appear alongside the vegetation that typically grows from the Green Man's face and body, or branches can be depicted to resemble antlers
