Gothic Oak Armchair with Fretwork Panel

A handsome and solid piece of oak furniture, this large 19th century gothic armchair is heavy, comfortable and has some attractive fretwork in the splat panel.
– A heavy, sturdy chair.
– Reddish brown leather upholstery, with a removable hard based seat cushion, leather covered arms and brass studding.
– Fluted carving on the front legs and the upright stiles.
– Detailed gothic fretwork carving to the back.
– Dentil frieze above the fretwork panel and around the tops of the ear finials.
– Rounded carved finials at the ends of the arms.
A striking and comfortable chair with a wide seat, this will make a wonderful hall chair, or a good option for a waiting room with a traditional interior.
In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. The fretwork panel appears to have been made in two pieces, so that a very slight central gap appears if the panel shifts slightly in position, but they push back together easily.
