The high quality brass of this collectible makes it a suitable 21st (brass) anniversary gift. This vintage compact is suitable for use with modern pressed face powder or as a handbag mirror. An unused 1960s Stratton 'Convertible' compact in superb condition. The whole item gleams. The images really do not do this item justice - it is much more golden and shiny than it appears here. The makers applied a layer of lacquer at the point of manufacture which means it will never tarnish nor need to be cleaned. The lid is decorated with a textured gilt pattern known as 'Bark' by some producers of vanities. Like the bark of a tree, only golden. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent and it gives a clear / accurate reflection. The powder well is protected by the original white enamel paint. The base is signed 'Stratton' MADE IN ENGLAND' and decorated with circular bands of shiny gold tone stars. This vintage compact mirror measures 3" & weighs 94.2 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
