Georgian Silver & Whalebone Punch Ladle, c.1736

This is a Georgian Punch Ladle with a Sterling Silver bowl and finial and a barley twist Whalebone handle. The bowl is inset with a George II Sterling Silver Shilling from 1736.
As is often the case when items have a silver coin inset, there are no hallmarks as the coin is taken as a guarantee of silver standard and age.
The silver bowl, mount and finial are in very good condition with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 285 years of use. The twisted whalebone handle has a lengthways split in it which makes the handle a little springier than usual but it remains completely secure and usable. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The punch ladle is 33cm / 13ins long, whilst the bowl is 5.8cm / 2.3ins across. It weighs in at 46.3g / 1.6oz.
The silver shilling is clearly dated for 1736.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
