George III Silver Salt Spoon, London, 1787

This is an elegant George III Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in the classic Old English pattern. The spoon has been enhanced with bright cut decoration down the length of the front of the stem. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The salt spoon was made in London in 1787 but the makers' mark, whilst present, has been too polished away for us to identify.
Condition is very good, with just one truly tiny ding in the bowl and the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 235 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The salt spoon is 9.7cm / 3.8ins long and weighs in at 6.1g / 0.21oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are quite rubbed but can still be deciphered apart from the makers' mark. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the London date letter m for 1787, a very rubbed George III duty mark and the ghost of the makers' mark which we have been unable to decipher.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
