George III mahogany bird cage tilt top table
This is a very good example of an English Georgian circular, tilt-top occasional or supper table on a pedestal base dating from the late 18th century.
It has the following features:
- Solid mahogany top made from one piece of timber
- Baluster vase turned column of pleasing shape on a tripod base with cabriole legs and pad feet
- Good quality brass catch mechanism, which allows the top to tilt easily and lock to provide a stable surface
- A birdcage mount which allows the top to rotate on its base
- Original small brass castors
- Rich, waxed, medium brown colour
- Ideal size to be used as a supper table or a lamp table in the living room
Dimensions:
Diameter: 33 1/2''
Height: 28 3/4''
Condition: Fine original condition - everything from the brass catch to the castors is original to the piece. Overall condition is excellent with some marks and evidence of wear typical of a table circa 220 to 250 years old which has been well looked after. The table has been gently cleaned and polished with beeswax in our workshop.

We have a trusted delivery man who is a experienced in transporting antiques, pictures and fragile items. He can deliver to most places on mainland England and Wales and, depending on where he is on his schedule, it may take a few days or up to 4 weeks. Other couriers are available for Scotland and North Wales or where a shorter time frame is required. Purchases can also be collected in person from the Tunbridge Wells area in SE England.
