Superb early 19th.c. French Empire marble top centre table or gueridon c.1820. 41″ diameter top in a beautifully mottled ambergris coloured marble, the edge moulded with a border of concentric rings designed to stop spilt liquids from running over the sides. Over a mahogany veneered apron with a thumb moulded bottom edge. Shaped and reeded column with a turned base raised on particularly fine Empire style tripod legs with carved papyrus detail and large paw feet with wooden castors below. A few chips from the edge of the marble, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
