A superior quality English burr walnut secretaire bookcase. The inverted breakfront cornice having solid cross grain ogee mouldings above the burr walnut frieze. The stiles having half round applied columns supported with well carved top and bottom corbels. The 2 glazed doors open to reveal 2 adjustable walnut faced shelves and are secured with working lock & keys. The base section having a very good secretaire consisting of 6 maple veneered and mahogany lined drawers each retaining the original brass axe head handles and 6 shaped top pigeonholes. The writing surface still retains the green baize and the fall is secured with a Bramah lock and 2 keys. The lower cupboard having conforming applied columns and corbels with 2 glazed doors, adjustable shelf and working lock with keys. The whole raised on an inverted breakfront plinth with matching solid walnut cross grain mouldings Dimensions:- Height…81’’/ 206cm. Max.Width at Cornice…51.5’’/ 131cm. Depth of Base…21’’/ 53.5cm.
