Fine Mahogany 8 bell Bracket Clock
This is a particularly fine English bracket/table antique clock dating from the early Victorian period based on a Regency design made by Thwaites and Reed of London .Please read Wikipedia for brief details of this important clock making Company
The elaborate case uses the very finest mahogany veneers and has pagoda shaped top over well pieced blind fretts.The front having canted brass reeded corners and lions head handles . The 9 inch silvered brass dial is signed by the makers and has a strike silence facility above 12 o'clock. The heavy cast brass bezel has convex glass.
The dial is surrounded by fine brass sound fretts which are repeated to the sides stepped chamfer top surmounted by a gilded pineapple finial.
The clock stands on four ball feet , the design of which is repeated to the top of the case.
The glazed rear door gives access to the substantial 8 day duration bell striking triple fusee movement which strikes the quarters on a nest of 8 bells . It is perfect working order.
This is an impressive clock being is 25 inches tall . The width is only 14 inches and the depth 7.
