Fine George III Irish Mahogany Jardinière Stand Victorian Jardinire stand mahogany Jardinire Stand Jardinire stands %%alt5%%
The well coloured mahogany jardinière stand having a circular top over a substantial and beautifully carved cabriole leg with a scrolled acanthus leaf decorated main body and finely detailed and exuberant lion’s paw foot on a stepped octagonal base with bun feet, surviving from George III period Ireland and later.

The jardinière has only been waxed by us and remains in desirable original condition showing a good dark and rich mahogany patina and colour. She is structurally sound. There is some slight movement to the top, and some water related damage in the form of ring marks to the top where a vase has stood. This could be polished out if so desired but we don’t feel it is overtly detrimental to the whole.

It is almost a certainty that this wonderfully well realised cabriole leg was from a large piece of George III/IV antique furniture or possibly George II period, for example a sideboard or console table that was broken up, and this leg was then later converted to a jardinière stand, probably shortly after the Georgian period, in the early to mid nineteenth century.

Thus, this is an unusually bold and particularly well carved and executed jardinière stand due to the fact the main body is from a very high quality piece of imposing Irish Georgian antique furniture, meaning this stand is a good level above the norm for its type. Exhibition quality.
