Fine English Fusee Boulle Clock - Payne , London
This is a fine and unusual English mantle antique clock clock dating from middle of the 19th Century by the respected maker (William ) Payne , 163 , New Bond Street , London who has antique clocks in the British Museum and the Royal Collection.
This clock is in first class condition having been acquired in totally untouched order with a layer of dirt protecting all the original finish below which has been carefully cleaned to reveal the clock in virtually as new condition. The marine shell with brass inlays is a rich red colour which has a high shine and the well cast ormlou mounts retain all their original gilding. The are no losses to the inlay
I am always loathe to call any item of this age as "mint condition" but this clock is as close as it gets . I will certainly satisfy the most discerning client.
The vast majority of Boulle types clocks are of French manufacture with English examples being much rarer and of better quality being fitted with top quality fusee movements , the majority of which were made by Payne who specialised in such antique clocks.
The rosewood rear door opens to reveal the lovely keyhole shaped movement which is specifically made for the case. It is in full working order although superficially dirty and will be professional serviced at the full asking price.
The 3 1/2 inch brass dial is very pleasing having13 separate porcelain pieces which display the blue numerals and the makers details to the centre. It is in perfect order apart a little nibbling around the winding hole.
The pictures should give prospective buyers all they need to know.
The clock is 14 inches tall . The maximum width is 7 1/2 inches and the depth 5.
This clock is fully restored and in outstanding condition with an excellent colour and shine.
This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
If the asking price is paid in full then I will have the movement serviced ,deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide .
UK buyers are asked to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible.
