Early 20th C. Silver Plate 3 Piece Tea Set, Viners

This is a fine quality Early 20th Century Three Piece Silver Plate Tea Set. The set consists of a large family teapot, a lidded sugar bowl and a cream jug. The pieces are barge shaped and stand on four reeded feet. The top rims are gadrooned with shell motifs at the corners. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The tea set was made in Sheffield by Viner's Ltd and dates to around the 1920s/30s. It is part of the Alpha Plate series which Viner's started using as a brand name in 1924. Viner's was founded around 1900 by Adolphe Viener, who later Anglicized his family surname to Viner. Starting out as electroplaters, the firm moved into silverware in the early 1920s. They remained extremely successful up until the 1970s but later had difficulties and ceased trading in the 1980s. The Viner's brand name is now owned by Oneida.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, only a slight bruise to the inside rim of the lid of the sugar bowl, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teapot is 31cm / 12.2ins from spout to handle, 12.8cm / 5ins across and stands 16.3cm / 6.4ins high. The capacity is 1.15l / 2pts. The sugar bowl is 17.5cm / 6.9ins from handle to handle, 7.2cm / 2.8ins across and stands 11cm / 4.3ins high. The cream jug is 14.5cm / 5.7ins from lip to handle, 7.2cm / 2.8ins across and stands 11cm / 4.3ins high. All together, the set weighs in at 1.37kg / 48.3oz.
The undersides of the three pieces are well marked with ALPHA PLATE, VINERS OF SHEFFIELD and ENGLAND.
