Cut Glass & Silver Plate Rose Bowl, c.1950s/60s

This is an attractive Mid-Century Cut Glass Rose Bowl with a Silver Plate stand and grill. The circular pedestal stand is decorated with scrolls and flowers between two beaded rims, with the grill having a mtching border of scrolls and flowers. The glass bowl is deep cut with alternating upward and downward fan cuts.
The rose bowl was made in Birmingham by Mayell & Co as part of their "Queen Anne" range and dates to around the 1950s/60s. Mayell & Co were founded in Birmingham by Philip Mayell after the Second World War. They produced electroplate and chrome homeware and tableware. The firm was active through the 1950s and 1960s and probably into the early 1970s.
Whilst it has undoubtedly seen some use, condition is good, with no chips or cracks in the glass bowl and no significant plate loss to the stand and grill. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The rose bowl is 15.5cm / 6.1ins in diameter and stands 11cm / 4.3ins high with the grill in place. It weighs 1.04kg / 36.6oz.
The underside of the grill is stamped EP on Zinc for silver plate and Made In England but is readily identifiable as Mayell & Co's Queen Anne range.
