Art Deco Silver Teaspoon, A.J. Bailey, 1934

This is very stylish Art Deco Sterling Silver Teaspoon with an odeon style finial and engine turned decoration. The initials S.B.C and date 1935 are neatly engraved in the bowl. These could be a personal set of initials or they could stand for a club of some description, perhaps a bowling club as these were very popular in the twenties and thirties.
The teaspoon is a good quality piece in a heavy gauge of silver. It is made in Birmingham by A.J. Bailey and dates to 1934. Founded in the 1890s, A.J. Bailey were in business up until the late 1970s, primarily producing good quality silver tableware.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and only the most minimal surface wear. It has clearly been well looked after for more than 80 years! Please make sure you view all the photographs.
The teaspoon is 12.3cm / 4.8ins long and weighs a very respectable 13.5g / 0.47oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the bowl are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter K for 1934, the King George & Queen Mary silver jubilee mark and the A.J.B makers' mark for A.J. Bailey.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
