Art Deco Silver Seal Top Spoons & Sugar Tongs 1924

This is a stylish set of 6 Art Deco Sterling Silver Seal Top Coffee Spoons and a very sweet matching pair of small Sugar Tongs, all in their original case with a \"mock croc\" covering. Seal top spoons, with their distinctive flat round finials, originated in medieval times but were revived and became very popular in the Art Deco era between the wars.
The spoons and tongs were made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths William Suckling Ltd and date to 1924. Although all the spoons and the tongs are matching and have the same hallmarks, slightly mysteriously 4 of the coffee spoon finials have an initial \"C\" elegantly engraved on the top but the other two spoons and the sugar tongs do not.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 90 years of service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 9.8cm / 3.9\" long and the tongs are 7.1cm / 2.75\" long. The set of 6 spoons plus the sugar tongs (unboxed) weighs in at a respectable 60.7g / 2.14oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the bowls are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter \"z\" for 1924 and the S Ld makers\' mark for William Suckling Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
