Art Deco Silver Inkwell, Percy J. Finch, 1928

Here we have a stylish Art Deco Sterling Silver Capstan style Inkwell. The inkwell has a broad circular base with the inkwell offset to the back and notches to the base in front of it to hold the pen. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind and the base is weighted for stability.
The inkwell is made in Birmingham by Percy James Finch and dates to 1928. Percy Finch operated from premises in Tenby Street in the heart of Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter and was active in the 1920s and 1930s.
Condition is very good with just a couple of small dings in the rim of the base and a truly tiny ding in the lid. The hinge is in good working order. The white ceramic liner is new, not the original but is a good fit. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The diameter of the inkwell base is 10.1cm / 3.9ins and it stands 3.8cm / 1.5ins high. The weight is 248.6g / 8.7oz but this does include the weighting material in the base.
The hallmarks on the rim below the inkwell are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter D for 1928 and the P.J.F makers' mark for Percy James Finch.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the inkwell.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
