Antique Victorian Rosewood Freestanding Davenport
Quality antique Victorian rosewood freestanding davenport having the original brass gallery to the top with lift up serpentine shaped lid and crossbanded rosewood writing slope. The slope opening to reveal a fitted satinwood interior consisting of two dummy drawers and two working drawers. It boasts a quaint swizzle drawer to the top right hand side above four working drawers with original turned rosewood knobs and four dummy drawers to the left hand side with original rosewood turned knobs. The swizzle drawer can be opened and locked by removing and reinserting the knob as the pictures indicate. The carved shaped solid rosewood cabriole legs to the front are outstanding as is the freestanding back with a moulded panel. It stands on a plinth base raised on turned feet with original casters.
The colour, quality, design and condition of this handsome piece is marvellous.
